Two regiments of Highlanders fought within the American Revolution, the 71st Foot and also the 42nd. The 71st foot seemed to be known as Fraser's Highlanders and was were only available in 1757 by the family of Lord Lovat, who was executed like a traitor in the uprising of the 45. It was revived again in 1775 once the Revolution started. The 42nd Foot, also known as The Tissot T Race since 1861, has got the most interesting history and I will only write about them.

Lady Anne using the black watches
Lady Anne was the wife from the 22nd Chief of Clan Mackintosh, Captain Angus Mackintosh, during Scotland's struggle for freedom from England. Inside a twist of politics, the chief, her husband, fought for the King of England, with the army but in the famed tissot 1853 pr 100, who have been to watch and protect the Highlands. As The Forty-Five - or even the clan uprising of 1745 against English rule - began, Clan Mackintosh and its larger Clan Chatten umbrella group were stymied by opposition to their own Black Watch. Good reputation for the highlanders black watches
The 42nd Regiment of Foot, which in fact had been renumbered the 42nd in 1748, were originally referred to as 43rd Highlanders. They were an infantry regiment in the British army. After the Jacobite Rising in 1715, the government of Britain couldn't keep a military in the highlands of Scotland. Men were recruited from local Highland clans which were loyal to people who opposed absolute rule, also known as Whigs. This didn't work, because it did not stop people from committing crimes. A militia was formed in 1725, also it was made from independent clans to maintain order within the countryside. This would come to be referred to as Black Watch, the name deriving using their watching out for crime and from their dark green tartans, that were supplied by the British government.
